Micro Focus offers two products to support the application developer using Net Express or Server Express. These products provide flexibility of access to data in all your applications. They allow you to broaden your development capabilities and reduce the requirements for training in new programming languages.
Micro Focus Database Connectors – seamlessly extending COBOL to relational databases
In an environment where your COBOL application needs to connect to relational databases, and may even need to switch between different database providers without making changes to the original source code, the Micro Focus Database Connectors are available as an option to Net Express and Server Express. Using traditional COBOL syntax, your applications can fully read and update relational databases shared with other applications in your environment. This provides simple data integration between your COBOL applications and other languages, for example Java, or tools such as Microsoft Excel and Access.

Micro Focus XDBC – making your COBOL data available to SQL applications
Most enterprises have valuable data stored in traditional COBOL data files which they need to be able to share easily with other languages or tools. XDBC makes it easy to provide industry standard interfaces, including ODBC and JDBC, onto that data. It also simplifies the management of the COBOL data which may be stored in multiple physical files but can now be managed as a single data source.
